I recently had an emotional melt-down, alcohol facilitated, and caused a big fight (mostly my fault) with my girl. She's really, really mad and says I won't take responsibility for my actions. I've told her I'm sorry and am going to counseling now for my, at the time, unknown emotional issues.
I've tried to explain to her how I was feeling and what lead up to my actions which she then says I'm minimizing or not taking responsibility for it. I've figured out that we both think differently. When something bad happens, I look at what lead up to it to make sure it doesn't happen again. Her, she doesn't care. To her it happened and there's no reason to diagnose it. She sees the diagnosing as trying to get a pass, or trying to justify it.
My question, what language/verbage can I use to let her know I take full responsibility and I'm sorry, because what I've been doing isn't working.How do I ';take'; responsibility... in girl talk?
saying that you take full responsibility, help or no help, for your actions should be ok. sounds like she thinks that once there's a problem, there is always a problem though, which isn't going to be good for the relationship down the road.How do I ';take'; responsibility... in girl talk?
';I have stopped drinking, and I am in counseling. I am in the process of fixing the problem so it will never happen again. I am very sorry that I hurt you by my actions. I love you very much and hope that you will give us another chance.';
Maybe you shouldn't talk to her about what led up to it. It may sound like you are trying to shift responsibility onto outside factors, even if you aren't. What she most likely needs to hear is that you made those decisions and made your own bed, so to speak. She needs to hear that it doesn't matter what happens in the future, you are not going to make those same mistakes, even if outside factors make you want to. You have made a decision to never make those mistakes.
Sign language! Get a Big freaking diamond ring and bribe her! If words don't work actions will! Love is a verb dude! A verb implies action! Don't ';TALK';! Talk is cheap! Show your love! If I have to tell you how to do that too, then you are too far gone and it's over!
Say no more. Allow her some space. Remember that actions speak louder than words.
Sounds like this relationship is a lot of work. You need to ask yourself is it worth it? How committed are you to this girl? It might be time to call it a day and move on.
